FOSS Weekly #23.19: New Zinc Distro, Terminal Fonts, Tux Story and More

A few readers have notified me that they end up with Cloudflare errors while visiting It's FOSS webpages on Google Chrome. I have investigated the issue and cleaned up the cache. Nothing conclusive was found.

So, I doubled up the CPU strength to 8-core. This should guard against a sudden influx of traffic which increases the CPU load and prevents the site from being inaccessible momentarily.

However, if you still encounter this issue, please let me know.

💬 Let's see what else you have in this edition of FOSS Weekly:

  • First look at Zinc, an Ubuntu-based distro
  • Continuation of the Rust series and beautiful font suggestions
  • More Linux news, videos, and of course, memes!

🗓️ Linux Trivia

On May 9, 1996, Linus Torvalds described in a mailing list his conception of what he believes should be the logo for Linux.

So when you think "penguin", you should be imagining a slighly overweight penguin (*), sitting down after having gorged itself, and having just burped. It's sitting there with a beatific smile - the world is a good place to be when you have just eaten a few gallons of raw fish and you can feel another "burp" coming.

Yeah! That's the story behind the Linux logo Tux. Here are some more.
