FOSS Weekly #23.29: Linux Mint 21.2 Released, Systemd vs Init, Terminal vs Nautilus and More

A 'funny' thing happened this week.

It's FOSS received a DMCA takedown notice. It was against this tutorial about managing startup applications in Ubuntu. The DMCA report was filed by someone (using automated bots) who thought that the content violated the copyrights of the TV series StartUp.

I filed an appeal, which was resolved in a few days. But the entire episode shows the reckless use of stupid bots. Imagine if someone deliberately used this mechanism to target independent, small publishers like us 😱

💬 Let's see what you get in this edition of FOSS Weekly:

  • Linux Mint 21.2 is available now
  • Creating custom ISO from Ubuntu and Linux Mint install
  • A filmmaker shares his experience using FOSS tech to make films
  • Continuation of our Bash Basics series.
  • And other Linux news, videos, Puzzles and, of course, memes!
